Global Translator is a multi-language translation tool. It employs a machine translation engine to translate text between any of the fourteen languages supported: Arabic, Chinese, Simplified Chinese, German, English, French, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Graphically, the user interface is divided into two fields: one for the source language and another for the target language. Starting a translation is as easy as typing text in one of the fields, selecting the language pair that you want to work with, and clicking on the translate button (blue arrow to the right).
Global Translator seems to use an online machine translation engine for its translations. I infer this from looking at the application's settings, which allow you to set a proxy server. The quality of the translations is not the best that I have seen in machine translators. Basic sentences with very direct meanings seem to translate fine. When you add a few twists to your sentences, Global Translator doesn't seem to understand what you are trying to say. The application even failed to recognize the contraction "doesn't" in a couple of my test sentences.
There are a couple of links to real, human translators and translation agencies in the application's website, if you really need a reliable translation.
